Lea Dads is a small football team made up of residents of Lea and the surrounding area, plus assorted friends & family. We play most Saturday mornings at 9.15am, at various pitches within a 3 mile radius of Lea. Games vary from 4 to 12-a-side, depending upon how many turn up.
We have been playing together since the mid 90s and during that time different generations have played side by side. We are a mixed bunch with an age range from 16 years to over 60. Although we are mostly adult players, sons or daughters are welcome as long as they are robust enough (usually from 16 years).
If you are interested in joining in, please contact John Sanders or Dave Wreathall.
We traditionally play a New Year’s Day game, come rain, snow or gales. Here’s a picture of the 2007 turnout. This is before the game; luckily, we didn’t take the “after” picture, as you might not recognise anyone under the mud.

We have even been on three overseas tours, which were great fun, although perhaps stretched the definition of “football tour” slightly. In 2004 we went to Barcelona and in 2005 to Malmesbury’s twin town in Niebull, Germany, where we played in a competition against several local German teams; we lost the football but accounted for ourselves better in the drinking afterwards. In May 2008, we visited Malmesbury’s other twin town – Gien, in the Loire Valley, France. Once again, we let the hosts win, in the interest of entente cordiale. Click here for details
